The Healthier You Programme is a free NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, delivered by Ingeus in partnership with Oviva and Leicester Diabetes Centre. It has been developed by expert nutritionists, diabetes researchers and doctors.

The programme has been designed to help you reduce or remove your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by making simple changes to your diet, your physical activity levels and your weight management.

Since Healthier You was launched in 2016, thousands of people are now living with a reduced risk of developing this serious health condition since completing the programme.

Option 1: Remote group-based sessions

Healthier You remote group sessions are delivered by trained programme experts to small groups, aimed at giving support and guidance to getting healthy, staying healthy and living healthy. 

Our sessions are currently delivered remotely via call or video chat on your phone, computer, laptop or tablet device from the comfort of your own home. 

The sessions are informal and interactive to enable everyone to share their ideas and tips, and benefit from the experiences of other people who are looking to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. 

You'll have the chance to talk to your own personal health coach as well as your peers to get the most out of the programme and help one another on your journeys. 

Option 2: Digital one-to-one or group sessions

This programme, provide by Oviva offers specialist and personalised dietary support via it's NHS Digital-approved app remotely at a time that is convenient to you. You will be matched with your own personal health coach who will provide support over the 9 month programme in either one-to-one or group sessions. 

You will be given life time access to psychological and nutritional advice on their app, to help you build on the healthy habits you will learn during the programme. The app will also enable you to track food and activity and speak with others on the same journey as you.

People who take part lose on average 10lbs, if weight loss is a personal goal. 50% of people on programme have a lower risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Healthier You Diabetes Prevention programme is provided free of charge by the NHS and you will never be asked to pay for the service or to give your bank details.

We will be launching British Sign Language (BSL) sessions for participants whose first or preferred language is BSL. A pilot will be running with a programme via Zoom with a qualified BSL Interpreter present. We will be working with Zebra Access (zebra-access.com) who have supported us in making refinements to the Healthier You programme to ensure its accessible to the participants.
